Mondays with Moody: Seasonal Allergies

Howdy, friends! Do you ever feel like some days when you step outside, you’re wading right into the clouds? You probably are- but instead of those white, fluffy ones in the sky, you’re engulfed in a thick wave of pollen, ragweed, or even worse, mold. Hello, seasonal allergies!

Thankfully, humans have remedies to help you enjoy the outdoors without all the itchy eyes and stuffy noses. But what about your pet? If you notice your pet is scratching themselves, sneezing more than normal, licking their paws, or shedding worse than before, they too could be suffering from seasonal allergies.

Symptoms to look for:

  • Scratching and biting their skin more than usual

  • Red, inflamed, or infected skin

  • Excessive shedding

  • Compulsive paw licking in dogs

  • Chronic ear infections or red, waxy ears

  • Respiratory issues, such as difficulty breathing, coughing, or wheezing (more common in cats)

If you notice your pet experiencing any of the above, just call your vet. Don’t have a vet? My friends at TLC PetSnip do more than just high quality spay and neuter. They’ve got a whole wellness center and team of docs dedicated to helping keep your pets healthy! They also give awesome belly rubs!

Wet noses and tail wags,

Moody
