Spirit

Spirit is an adventurous and high energy 2 1/2-year-old German Shepherd that has been placed into three homes before finding his forever home with the Powell family four months ago.

He loves everyone and that is what got him into trouble! He really wanted to play with his new neighbors and just couldn’t wait until his family opened the gate to take him for a walk; so, he jumped his fence and got stuck on the top. The result was a nasty and large groin injury that needed immediate care. His humans were distraught and had not planned on a large veterinary medical bill. They called and went to other veterinarians but they were unable to be seen because of their financial restrictions.

Spirits owners were given our contact information when they reached out to local animal control officers for help. Spirit came to us scared and bleeding. We immediately jumped into action and Dr. Banner and the staff worked to quiet him and prepare him for surgery. Given that Spirit’s owners were not financially prepared for a massive veterinary bill we used your donations!

Once sedated the full extent of Spirit’s injuries were evaluated, luckily he did not damage any major arteries or tendons. The damage in his groin was pretty severe and Dr. Banner performed a surgical repair of the area after removing debris from the fence.

Given that Spirit’s owners were not financially prepared for a massive veterinary bill we used your donations! The donations that you make to the Angel Fund go directly to helping animals like Spirit. Pets that are loved deeply by their families but may have financial limitations when it comes to veterinary bills. This sweet boy has a long road to recovery and because of the location of the injury is on strict cage rest. We think that for Spirit that is the worst part of this adventure.

Please consider becoming a monthly giver and make a lasting impact on pets like Spirit.
